Okay, I'm supposed to be writing, but then I saw this video
(warning: sound!) and thought it was so fun that I couldn't resist playing the same "casting" game for my series (side note: I don't know the person who made that video, but people's enthusiasm for my books astounds
So, if I had to pick right now
from Hollywood's list of stars who I'd cast as characters in my series, here are my picks. Disclaimer: since it's impossible for me to make up my mind, I'm picking two people for each role.
CAT: Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johanson. Of course, both women would have to dye their hair red first. Why not someone who looks tougher? Because that's part of Cat's disguise - she doesn't look like a bad-ass. She looks lovely and feminine...right up until she twists a silver stake in someone's heart.
BONES: Terribly terribly hard to nail down, but here goes. James Franco and Orlando Bloom. Why? Look at the luscious cheekbones on those men! Yummy. And they have that lean muscled look I picture on Bones, plus the dark brown eyes.
TATE: Brad Pitt and Thomas Jane. Why? Brad has Tate's average-guy-but-prettier look, while Thomas better portrays Tate's hardness as a soldier.
JUAN: Edgar Ramirez and Antonio Banderas. Edgar has Juan's sexiness down pat, but Antonio personifies more of his humor and playfulness.
COOPER: Djimon Hounsou and Will Smith. Djimon has Cooper's size and intensity, while Will is better for Cooper's agility and attitude.
DAVE: Patrick Dempsey and Joaquin Phoenix. Patrick has Dave's Everyman appeal, while Joaquin shows more of Dave's toughness.
RODNEY: Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe. Ben has Rodney's strength, while Russell (I'm thinking specifically of Russell in the movie MYSTERY, ALASKA) has more of his charm and laid-back attitude.
: Kate Beckinsale and Natalie Portman. Kate and Natalie both are good examples of Denise's looks, but Natalie has more of her down-to-earth appeal.
JUSTINA: Readers usually think of Justina as older or unattractive (possibly because of her personality) but Andi McDowell and Linda Fiorentino show Justina as the beautiful - albeit dysfunctional - woman she is. Andi has Justina's beauty, while Linda has her watch-out-scary-bitch attitude.
SPADE: Hugh Jackman and Jude Law. Both men are gorgeous, though Hugh has more of Spade's charisma while Jude has his wicked side.
IAN: Again, picuture both actors with auburn hair. Samuel Le Bihan (specifically, from BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF) and Colin Farrell. Samuel has Ian's dangerous sexiness, and Colin has more of Ian's really gorgeous looks.
DON: Harrison Ford and Christopher Walken. Both men have Don's manipulativeness and yet deep-buried softer side.
Gabriel Byrne and Gerard Butler. Gabriel (in the movie END OF DAYS) just seethed the kind of menace Max has, but Gerard shows that being bad doesn't mean you're not beautiful.
Annette: (I'll agree with the podcaster on this :). Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet. Nicole has Annette's yowsa-type beauty, while Kate shows more of the curvy figure and sex appeal mixed with British manners.
